Webinar: Breaking the Glass Case: Using Film and Virtual Reality in a Small Museum
Description
Wednesday, March 6, 2019 12:30pm EST Be inspired by a small museum! Creating film and Virtual Reality (VR) content, one small museum is giving visitors and partners a chance to reach out and touch the museum collections, the natural environment and the past. This webinar will share the experience of producing and using traditional and VR films to break down barriers in understanding and to generate new synergies. Find out how this project built local and international collaboration, audiences and partnerships in a small rural community. Based on one of the most popular and highly rated sessions at the OMA 2018 Conference, this webinar brings this fascinating and inspiring conference session to a wider audience! Presenters: Andrea Wilson, Curator, Craigleith Heritage Depot Tom Strnad, Producer, Mountain Goat Film Company Inc. Speaker bios: When she’s not producing films, Andrea Wilson is inspired by collections, colleagues and communities. A sign of success for her is when loud exclamations of amazement erupt in Craigleith’s tiny gallery! Andrea revels in shining a light on the heritage of Nottawasaga Bay and the Niagara Escarpment. Her formal museum training, her experience in museums of all sizes and her work with diverse collections continue to fed her curiosity and growth as a museum professional. Tom Strnad is a Blue Mountains based filmmaker and post-production specialist with over fifteen years of experience. His films have aired on every major Canadian network, and are distributed by Entertainment One, Multiple Media Entertainment and Fremantle Corporation. Tom is a hardcore mountain biker and snowboarder.
