Greenhouses and Programming

Hello everyone, I am researching the addition of greenhouse to our operation to augment our programming and demonstrations. The proposed size is 60 ft x 26 ft with programming / workshop area at one end and would grow vegetables and possible some fruit. It would be located outside of our pioneer village gate; so, it would be both: included as part of the site tour and separate, so as to not negatively impact the authentic visitor experience. The root purposes (pun intended) would be to: • Provide a venue for curriculum-based programming and community education, relative to both early gardening and modern techniques • Provide needed year-round space for programming and workshops (relative to growing or just as a heated space in an interesting environment) • Provide community education and growing starter kits for those interested in growing their own vegetables • Any produce grown would be distributed in conjunction with local food co-ops Theses same food co-ops are interested in working with us to staff the greenhouse for crop management as well as to become the agri-teachers So, if anyone is or has in the past, operated a greenhouse as part of your operation, (small or large) I would be very interested in connecting to discuss what worked and what didn’t. I’m mostly interested in construction, design, HVAC options and uptake. I would appreciate any and all information. Thanks Ron
