About Conference:

Conference co-chairs Kelley Swift Jones, Museum Curator, Simcoe County Museum, and Petal Furness, Heritage Interpretation Supervisor, Grey Roots Museum & Archives, and Sumac (Simcoe County's Cultural Network), invite you to join your colleagues in Simcoe County for Healthy Museums, Vibrant Communities.

Healthy Museums, Vibrant Communities focuses on three streams:

  • Collections / Curatorial
  • Interpretation
  • Visitors

Building on a few different thoughts, Healthy Museums looks at museums from their individual functions, (collections, conservation, programming, gift shop, fundraising etc.), and serves to provide a balanced approach to supporting, managing, and integrating all of these functions in a time efficient and cost effective way in pursuit of the museum's mission.

Vibrant Communities examines the thought that museums can serve people and communities in many parts of life, as places of wellness, even healing, social, community and economic development, and that museum programs facilitate learning and social equity, improving the long term well-being of a community.
