Young Canada Works (YCW) offers eligible employers wage subsidies and access to a pool of talented youth with innovative ideas and competitive skills. The YCW program is delivered through two components:

  • Young Canada Works in Both Official Languages

Internship programs

  • Young Canada Works at Building Careers in Heritage
  • Young Canada Works at Building Careers in English and French

Canadian heritage organizations can now submit funding applications for 2023-2024. Deadline to apply is January 20, 2023.

In this talk Dellandrea reveals the importance of this too-little-known story of scandal, intrigue, and mystery to this country’s art world.

Creating Engaging Online Experiences Course
Digital Museums Canada and Athabasca University

Digital Museums Canada (DMC) and Athabasca University (AU) share a common goal of supporting the Canadian museum and heritage community in building and strengthening their digital capacities. This course is designed to enhance digital skills, provide a solid understanding of the elements of a strong online project, and position learners for digital success in a changing world. This course takes approximately 2 hours to complete.

International Climate Control Conference
Ki Culture and Gallery Climate Coalition

As we know, climate control is one of the most carbon-intensive practices in the art world. In the 1970s, scientific research showed that using “preventive conservation,” a new approach to collections care, conservators could prolong the life of material objects by keeping them in ideal climatic conditions (temperature and relative humidity levels). Museums, galleries, transportation companies and other art stakeholders around the world jumped on this bandwagon and switched to climate controlled environments. Over the last 20 years, however, continued scientific research has shown that actually, climate control ranges don’t need to be as stringent as originally thought.

Despite the fact that climate control requires immense amounts of energy, and in the face of the climate crisis and energy crisis, many museums are still reluctant to make the change, or feel they are not able to because of international loan agreements and requirements from other institutions.

This is a collective problem and needs a collective solution. This 2 day online event will highlight the issues and solutions for climate control in the sector. This conference-style event will showcase latest research and scientific data, highlighting best practice in the field, and bringing together all stakeholders for a holistic view on the issue. Sessions will include keynote speakers, panel sessions, and case study/best practice presentations.

This is an online event and is free for all participants. Sessions will be recorded. Follow KC and GCC Social Media for full schedule and information about our speakers and guests!

To commemorate this occasion, we are hosting a year-long series of online activities, culminating at the OMA Annual Conference 2022 in November.
