Regional Government Review

The provincial review of eight regional governments and Simcoe County has not resulted in amalgamation for any municipalities.  According to the statement from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, the government “stands firm in its commitment to partnering with municipalities without pursuing a top-down approach”, which includes “providing up to $143 million to municipalities to help them lower costs and improve services for local residents over the long term.”
OMA Councillor Cathy Molloy presented on behalf of the OMA as part of the consultation process in May, expressing the major importance of municipalities for Ontario’s museums and to ensure the consideration of museums in the review.
