A Message from Her Honour the Honourable
Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontari
o

May 2022
"As Lieutenant Governor, I have been fortunate to have toured wonderful museums, galleries, and heritage sites all across this province. From these visits, I have seen how these are lively and forward-thinking organizations that are engaging with, and evolving alongside, their communities. Moreover, it is evident that their captivating programming is reflective of our diversity, is able to spark essential dialogue and deepen understanding on contemporary issues in provocative and edifying ways.

Therefore, it is with a sense of gratitude that I recognize “May is Museum Month” and applaud the Ontario Museum Association on the proud occasion of its 50th anniversary. On behalf of Her Majesty The Queen, I express my thanks to museum professionals for their commitment to making our world-class institutions even better. All Ontarians, and visitors from around the world, can benefit greatly from what you have to offer. May your efforts continue to point the way toward a more just, sustainable, society and country.

Elizabeth Dowdeswell"

As an organization of provincial scope, the Ontario Museum Association recognizes that its members and community live and work on the lands and territories of Indigenous peoples. Toronto, where the OMA offices are located, is the territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit, Haudenosaunee and the Huron Wendat. We wish to express our gratitude for the resources we are using and pay respect to the rich and ongoing Indigenous history of what is now Ontario and Canada.

Our Mission
