Leaskdale Manse National Historic Site

Our museum site consists of the National Leaskdale Manse where Lucy Maud Montgomery, author of Anne of Green Gables, lived and wrote for 15 years from 1911 to 1926. Here she wrote  11of her 22 books and her poetry book. The home has been restored to 1917 and provides the backdrop for the story of her life and work in this part of Ontario.

Our other building is The Historic Leaskdale Church formerly St.Paul's Presbyterian Church where Reverend Ewan Macdonald was minister from 1910 to 1926. Maud came to live in Leaskdale as the bride of Ewan  and here had her family. The church is our gathering hall for tours, displays and special events.

This site is run by the L.M. Montgomery Society of Ontario a volunteer not for profit organization dedicated to the restoration  of the site and the promotion of her writing throughout Canada and the world.
