Waterford Heritage & Agricultural Museum Event

Youth Volunteer Mentorship Orientation & Program Orientation
Until June 6, 2020 (10:00 AM - 12:30 PM)

WHAM’s youth volunteers have been a vital part of the success of our camps as well as many other special projects at the museum. Volunteering is a great way to begin to build a resume, earn school volunteer hours, make new friends, and develop leadership skills. We believe that each volunteer can offer something unique to our programs, whether you have a special talent, interest, or just enjoy working with kids.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in programming, help plan and implement camp events and activities, help with set-up and cleanup for daily activities, and take part in off-site trips.

Our volunteer program is flexible! Volunteers can sign up to come all summer, for a full week at a time, or for a day or two each week throughout the summer; all we ask is that volunteers commit to at least 5 full days (35 hours) of volunteering over the course of a summer.

Who can volunteer?

The Youth Volunteer Mentorship Program is open to youth ages 13 and older.

Returning youth volunteers are eligible to enroll as mentors. Mentors will partner with new participants and have the additional responsibility of planning WHAM’s hugely popular Night at the Museum.

Do volunteers need a criminal record check?

Volunteers under the age of 18 do not require a criminal records check.

Other Requirements:

Youth Volunteers are required to complete Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) training. This will be completed during the Youth Volunteer Orientation Day.

2020 Date:

Orientation takes place Saturday, June 6, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Pizza lunch will be provided.
