The Ontario Museum Association (OMA) Annual Conference brings together museum professionals, students, volunteers, supporters, and stakeholders with diverse experiences and backgrounds from across Ontario. The Conference provides a comfortable learning environment for participants to meet, share, and exchange with each other.

The OMA invite proposals from all interested individuals - consultants, professional speakers, executives, board members, suppliers, and cultural sector professionals from all stages of their careers. Proposals are welcome for sessions that address the theme, Towards the Future: Diversity and Inclusion and that explore exciting and creative ways of truly embracing diversity and inclusion within all aspects of our organizations.

The Program Committee may match speakers with complimentary proposals together to enhance conference sessions.

Please note: the Oma is unable to provide speakers with travel funds, honorariums or allowances

Towards the Future: Diversity and Inclusion
November 2 -4, 2016

This year in the Region of Peel, Ontario Museums will Look Ahead to a successful future – one in which Ontario’s museums have achieved their full potential as organizations that enrich people’s lives and help build vibrant and engaged communities. The 2016 conference will focus on the theme of Towards the Future: Diversity and Inclusion.

Museums in 2025 must be more than responsive. Museums need greater quality and depth of two-way engagement with people — our visitors, stakeholders and communities — when considering the types of experiences we provide. Our sector will work towards a future where museums have achieved success by fully embracing the reciprocal nature of these relationships.

The OMA invites proposals for conference sessions on the overall theme of Towards the Future: Diversity and Inclusion using the sub-themes of Vibrant & Vital Museums, Relevant & Meaningful Collections, Strong & Successful Sector, and Effective & Collaborative Workforce to further elaborate on how your museum is positioning itself for the future.
