Presenter Biographies:

Elka Weinstein, Museum and Heritage Programs Advisor (Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport)

Elka Weinstein is a Museum and Heritage Programs Advisor with the provincial Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport.   Her wide experience of working in heritage and museums includes administration, teaching, public interpretation, grant writing, evaluation, exhibition development, and database management.  Elka has a Master of Museum Studies and a Ph.D. in Archaeology, and has worked at a variety of cultural institutions in Canada, including the Royal Ontario Museum, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Gardiner Museum of Ceramic Art and various historic sites in Ontario and Quebec. She has also worked with museums in Latin America as a museum education specialist.  
 

Cheryl Fraser, Web Manager (Royal Ontario Museum)

At the Royal Ontario Museum, I supervise the Museum’s online presence as the Web Manager. My role is to advocate for a digital-first approach in communications, using online platforms to provide greater access to the Museum’s experts, collections and knowledge. I hold an Honours BA in Fine Art and English, and Master of Library Sciences from Western University. I stay active in the Museum community volunteering for the OMA as a council member, and for the CMA Young Canada Works Program.
