The summer tourism season for 2023 is ramping up! How can we better welcome and engage our visitors as soon as they come onsite, especially for visitors who may be coming for the first time or returning after our pandemic closures?

Informed by the discussion on the OMA ListServ and with an eye on supporting emerging museum professionals and frontline visitor services staff, the OMA is pleased to present “First Steps to Visitor Engagement: A Conversation”. Register through Zoom HERE. 

Join Jill Passmore, Visitor Experience Coordinator at the Oshawa Museum, and other members of our museum community to share and discuss strategies for helping to “break the ice”, build rapport, and enhance the visitor experience. Submit your questions in advance and bring the strategies that work for your museum to share with the group!

This free, 60-minute Zoom meeting is available to all who register. Participants are encouraged to have their cameras on during the meeting, and to ask questions verbally.

Meet our speaker: Jill Passmore (she/her) is the Visitor Experience Coordinator at the Oshawa Museum. She manages all aspects of the visitor experience, including planning, delivery and evaluation. Over the last sixteen years, Jill has focused on staff training to ensure positive, engaging and meaningful visits to the OM. In addition, creating a Visitor Experience and Interpretation Plan has emphasized OM's commitment to customer satisfaction. Jill holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Classical Studies from Brock University and numerous certificates from various heritage organizations, colleges and universities.
