- The program cap (previously $10,000 per domestic position) is not in effect this year.
- As always, applications from Indigenous organizations, applications for projects aimed at Indigenous interns, and applications for projects focusing on Indigenous cultural heritage are encouraged.

Backhouse Homestead up for municipal heritage designation
Norfolk County museum is a recognized National Historic Site
The present day Backhouse Homestead — circa mid-1850s — sits on the hill above Spring Creek overlooking the Backhouse Grist mill (1795). The Backhouse family moved to what became Norfolk County in the early 1790s. Family patriarch John Backhouse began a mill operation at this location north of Port Rowan and served as an officer in the British army in the War of 1812. The family later shortened its name to Backus.Representatives state that a heritage designation could be a good thing, especially if it helps persuade the province to increase funding for events and the care and upkeep of Backus.Read more HERE.
