Application deadline 5:00 p.m. (EDT) on Tuesday, June 30, 2020
"The Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries will deliver 2020-21 heritage grant programs as quickly as possible, to assist organizations that are dealing with significant reductions in revenue caused by closures to reduce the spread of COVID-19."

"The application for the 2020-21 Community Museum Operating and Pay Equity Grants Program (CMOG/PE) is now available on the Transfer Payment Ontario system. 

To assist organizations during the COVID-19 emergency, this year, the application has been shortened to make it faster and easier to apply. In addition, the requirements to meet the Standards for Community Museums in Ontario will not be tested this year.

The deadline to apply is 5:00 p.m. (EDT) on Tuesday, June 30, 2020

 Resources on Reopening Museums

The OMA has compiled a list of resources on Preparing for Recovery and Re-Opening of museums. Resources are depending on public health directions and jurisdictions, from provinces where museums can reopen to the International Council of Museums (ICOM). View the page HERE.

Confessions of a Museum Professional 3.0:
The Quarantine Edition

The Group of Ontario Emerging Museum Professionals (GOEMP) Committee presented the third edition of “Confessions of a Museum Professional.” This project invited colleagues to share anonymously written postcards about studying and working in the cultural sector. Submissions posed questions, shared frustrations, and told stories about the workplace, educational training, experiences, and failures within the arts, culture, and heritage community.

Every week there will be a brief presentation from OMA staff on a theme followed by an open discussion. This is an opportunity for you to connect with the OMA and with your colleagues across the province.

The OMA invites its institutional members to join the #MuseumFromHome campaign on the Discover Ontario Museums website to highlight the activities available from home for teachers, school kids, families and museum lovers alike.

Museums can be featured on the #MuseumFromHome page by updating their What's On events and tagging them with the campaign. For an instruction guide, please email

An Institutional membership includes a public listing on the Discover Ontario Museums website– accessed by approximately 6,000 unique visitors a month, with 60% from the US or abroad directed from the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport website.

Call for Proposals for the 2020-21
Community Cultural Action Fund
in Official Languages 
The Department of Canadian Heritage, via the Ministry of Francophone Affairs, has issued a call for Proposals for the 2020-21 Community Cultural Action Fund.
The deadline for submitting proposals to Canadian Heritage is June 8, 2020. Applications must be submitted through the Province and not directly to the Federal Government.
Please send any new proposals to Kim Hewitt, Senior Policy / Program Advisor, MHSTCI ( for internal ministry approval by noon Tuesday June 2, 2020.  Please note if you have a nil report or if you intend to use this opportunity.
Projects will be funded through a 50/50 cost sharing arrangement, with the agencies matching federal funding allocations. Multi-year projects are not considered this year. The Federal Government evaluates all proposals and makes final decisions.
