Dear Friends,
           Over the past weeks, COVID-19 has changed all of our lives rapidly and in unprecedented ways. My sincere wish is that you and your families are together and well. As we are learning, abiding by the guidelines set out by governments and health authorities is our best defence against the virus.
 
           As a museum sector, we are all working together as this complex and rapidly evolving situation unfolds. Recently, when the Government of Ontario declared the mandatory closures of public facilities, museums across the province responded by closing their sites and cancelling in-person programming...

OMA Survey
OMA Survey for Ontario Museums on the Impact of COVID-19
Deadline March 27!

As part of the Ontario Museum Association’s role to represent the province’s museum sector to governments and funders, we have developed a short survey to collect up-to-date and sector-specific information on the impacts of COVID-19 for Ontario’s museums. We are asking for your assistance to provide this information so that we can advocate on your behalf.

We reviewed other heritage, tourism, and culture surveys; and will be collaborating with other organizations to share results of all of our work.

Ontario's Fiscal Outlook 2020
Ontario to Release Fiscal Outlook for 2020
Press Conference Scheduled for March 25
 
After announcing earlier this month that the full provincial budget will be delayed until the fall, the Ontario government will instead release a fiscal outlook for 2020 on March 25.

Canada Revenue Agency Resources
Charities Directorate Extends T3010 Filing Deadline to December 31, 2020
 
As part of government actions taken in dealing with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Charities Directorate is extending the filing deadline to December 31, 2020, for all charities with a Form T3010, Registered Charity Information Return due between March 18, 2020 and December 31, 2020. This will allow charities more time to complete and submit their T3010, recognizing that charities will be focused on deploying their resources to address the effects of the COVID-19 virus situation.

Canada Revenue Agency Announces Temporary Wage Subsidy for Employers
 
The Temporary Wage Subsidy for Employers is a three-month measure that will allow eligible employers to reduce the amount of payroll deductions required to be remitted to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

You are an eligible employer if you:
  • are a non-profit organization, registered charity, or a Canadian-controlled private corporation (CCPC);
  • have an existing business number and payroll program account with the CRA on March 18, 2020; and
  • pay salary, wages, bonuses, or other remuneration to an employee.
The subsidy is equal to 10% of the remuneration you pay between March 18, 2020, and June 20, 2020, up to $1,375 per employee and to a maximum of $25,000 total per employer.
