May is Museum Month 2021
Since 2000, the OMA has led a campaign for May is Museum Month / Mai, Mois des Musées. The International Council of Museums (ICOM) has declared the theme for International Museum Day 2021 (May 18th) to be "The Future of Museums: Recover and Reimagine."
As we encourage Ontarians to learn more about their local museums next month, be sure to update your museum's listing on the museumsontario.ca website, and add any upcoming events to our What's On listings!
In 2021, public awareness of the safe, quality experiences that museums can offer is especially important. For MMM 2021, the OMA encourages museums to use social media and digital tools to share the offers they have for their communities and hyperlocal tourists.

CMS Course Director: Organization & Management of Museums – Deadline: May 5 The Ontario Museum Association is seeking a Course Director for its Certificate in Museum Studies course Organization & Management of Museums for delivery in the April 2021 to March 2022 fiscal year. The course is scheduled to be delivered online October 4 – December 10, 2021. A Course Director’s duties include:
- Planning, organization and delivery of the ten-week online course according to the curriculum provided.
- Recruitment and supervision of guest speakers if desired.
- Marking of student assignments.

Imagine Canada has published a document that provides a summary of the main Budget 2021 announcements of interest to the charitable and nonprofit sector. The list includes both measures that will apply to the whole sector and those of interest to particular sub-sectors, but it is not exhaustive and limited details are available about most of the programs and initiatives.
