Indigenous Collections Symposium: Next Steps
Building on the Ontario museum sector strategic vision, ON Museums 2025, and the 2016 Ontario Museum Association Conference, Diversity and Inclusion themes, the Indigenous Collections Symposium (ICS), held March 23-24, 2017, brought in new perspectives on Canadian heritage and Indigenous cultural awareness.

A publication of the Symposium proceedings will be presented to the public for the first time at this session.This presentation will share stories regarding the care and interpretation of Indigenous collections, particularly those held in trust by non-Indigenous organizations, and present a Report on recommendations for next steps the OMA could take to build on the foundation laid by the Symposium and based on key themes emerging from participants’ feedback.

The session will take place on Friday, October 13, 2017 at the OMA Conference in Kingston. Not too late to register for conference here.
