$9 Million for
"Reconnect Festival & Event Program"
Ontario Supporting Local Festivals and Events
Government investment will help promote creative and safe programs during COVID-19
The Reconnect Festival and Event Program 2020-2021 will "support municipalities and event organizers during COVID-19. This funding will be used to maintain public safety; it will allow people to reconnect with their communities through online, drive-through and other innovative experiences."

Intake for the program "will be retroactive to August 12th, and remain open until the 31st of March 2021." 

"The Reconnect Festival and Event Program is open to organizers with a minimum $50,000 operating budget and the capacity to safely reconnect Ontarians with their communities."

Eligible organizations must:
  • be Ontario-based with legal status for one year or longer, as of the date of submitting the application. For example, those that are:
  • established by or under legislation
  • federally or provincially incorporated
  • band councils established under the Indian Act
  • other Indigenous organizations that are incorporated
  • not be in default of the terms and conditions of any grant or loan agreement with any ministry or agency of the Government of Ontario (for example, Ontario Trillium Foundation)

In addition, your event must meet all of the following requirements:

  • take place between August 12, 2020 and March 31, 2021
  • must occur in the province of Ontario if it is an in-person event
  • have a total cash operating budget of at least $50,000
  • be open to the public at large without membership in a club or group
  • follow all municipal and provincial guidelines, including health and safety guidelines

Tourism and the Impacts of COVID-19

It has been a century since the world has dealt with a global pandemic of this scale. The impact of COVID-19 on the tourism industry was immediate, dramatic and deep. Recovery will take time and there is no real playbook. The museum sector is not alone in addressing the impacts – we are in this together! This session will discuss COVID’s impacts, what may be required to move forward and which opportunities may be viable to emerge from this pandemic.

  • 2 full days of online sessions, October 29 and November 5
  • 9 sessions, made up of keynotes and plenary panels
  • 4 weekly webinars, one each Tuesday in November
  • 2 Member Check-Ins, to connect and network with colleagues

  • Certificate in Museum Studies graduates

Bursaries for OMA Conference Registration
Deadline: October 9

The Conference Bursary will be available to OMA members in good standing who would otherwise be unable attend the OMA Conference. Applications will be considered on a first come, first served basis.

We thank the OMA Council who redirected their annual donations for the AGM in-person breakfast towards Conference bursaries.
