CMOG Program Launched,
Program to be Reviewed

Following an unexpected delay, the Community Museum Operating and Pay Equity Grant Program (CMOG) has launched with applications available on Grants Ontario for eligible museums.

The application deadline remains July 2, 2019.

With museums entering into the busy summer season (programs, planning, and staffing), and the impact of the shortened application period, applicants can reach out to the Museum and Heritage Programs Advisor for guidance on their applications.

Heritage and Museum Programs Review

Included in the message from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport announcing the launch of the CMOG program for 2019-2020 was the following statement:

“As you are aware, the Ministry is reviewing its funding programs to better serve the needs of community museums and heritage organizations.

In the coming months, there will be an opportunity for stakeholders to provide feedback on the development of a new program, or programs, that better reflects the needs of Ontario’s community museums and heritage organizations for 2020-2021.”

Echoing the sector's longstanding call for enhanced funding and programs, the OMA welcomes this opportunity to ensure that museums are supported in ways that meet their needs and strengthen their contributions to Ontario.

The sector's vision and action plan, Ontario's Museums 2025presents long-term outcomes identified through province-wide consultations, which can inform the programs review.

Working with the Ministry, the OMA will be actively engaging in the review process to ensure that Ontario's museums are well-positioned for future success.

We look forward to sharing additional information with members over the coming weeks.
