Indigenous Relations in Ottawa – An Introductory Handbook
Ottawa Museum Network

The handbook introduces readers to essential history and terminology of the Omamiwinini (Algonquin-Anishinaabe), the territory encompassing the Ottawa River Watershed, contemporary Indigenous issues and social movements as well as specific content for museums working with Indigenous communities. The handbook is accompanied by a map of the traditional Omamiwinini territory with Algonquin names for 13 sites of significance along the Ottawa River. The map is for all member museums to use in programming, exhibitions and educational activities.

This is accompanied by the launch of Museums and Indigenous Communities: Resources for Museum Professionals (Knowledge Hub) which was designed to be a one-stop resource for member museums as well as for others in the wider heritage and cultural fields looking for documentary resources for museums about museums and Indigenous cultural heritage.
