Need to Know
Ontario Announces Provincewide Shutdown

After assessing trends in key public health indicators, Ontario is moving into a Provincewide Shutdown to stop the spread of COVID-19 on December 26, at 12:01 a.m.

Amendments have also been made to O. Reg. 82/20 Rules for Areas in Stage 1. Please read the news release for information on how these changes may affect your business and operations.

The document Provincewide Shutdown: Businesses Permitted to Open and Sector Specific Restrictions pg. 22, effective December 26 at 12:01 a.m., indicates Museums and cultural amenities closed

Outdoor organized public events and social gatherings, which must comply with public health advice on physical distancing, are limited to 10 people outdoors (pg. 8).
The impacts of these time-limited measures will be evaluated throughout the 14 days in Northern Ontario and 28 days in Southern Ontario to determine if it is safe to lift any restrictions or if they need to be extended. The current COVID-19 Response Framework will be paused when the Provincewide Shutdown comes into effect.

The restrictions are in effect for all of Ontario from Saturday, December 26, 2020 to Saturday, January 9, 2021.

The restrictions would remain in effect from Saturday, January 9, 2021 to Saturday, January 23, 2021 for all 27 public health unit regions in Southern Ontario (refer to Appendix A).

#OMAConf2020 recordings available

As 2020 comes to a close, take a moment to reflect on all that we've learned this year by revisiting the engaging presentations and important discussions held at #OMAConf2020. OMA members can watch recordings of all the conference sessions on our website.

This holiday season, the following recording may be of interest:

Cultivating Resilience and Well-being in Turbulent Times
During a time of turbulence and stress, how can we stay emotionally healthy and connected to ourselves and those around us? What kinds of coping are normal and helpful? How might we develop strategies to ensure that we don’t slide into trauma or deep distress? In the museum context, how can we promote wellness and resilience within our ourselves, with our colleagues, and for our communities? In this session, Dr. Ross Laird explores these themes and examines strategies for cultivating mental health and wellness, building capacity within our organizations and teams, and directing the stress of the moment toward healthy outcomes for everyone.
