[FR] - Accessibility

The Ontario Museum Association and the developers of this Website have made every effort for this Website to be compliant with the Level A accessibility standards of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 (http://www.w3.org/WAI/WCAG2A-Conformance.html):

  • Web pages validate against HTML 4.01
  • Web pages use and declare UTF-8 character encoding
  • Web pages on this site use valid Cascading Style Sheets, level 2 and some level 3 (CSS2 and CSS3). All core website content and functionality are available without CSS.

Design

  • The Website uses Cascading Style Sheets for visual layout to improve content accessibility, as well as consistency and flexibility between pages
  • All text contrast is W3C compliant and the Website code allows for users to increase or decrease the size of text content
  • Web pages use JavaScript.  If the user's browser does not support JavaScript, the content of each page is still readable and key features will work, but advanced features such as Featured Photo slideshow, You Must... transition effect, What’s On content slider, Image cropping, Reorder items etc. will not work.
  • Text-equivalents are provided for all images, including graphical representations of text (including symbols), images used as list bullets, spacers, and graphical buttons.
  • The website is effectively viewable at every screen resolution (including 1024x768 with no horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of the screen).

Multimedia

  • OMA Members are instructed and encouraged to include descriptive alternative text ("alt") attributes for multimedia, including images, video and audio.  Where applicable, transcripts of multimedia will also be encouraged.
