This year’s theme, Changing Directions: Practice over Permanence, embodied the changing nature of museums and focused on what museums are currently doing, rather than what they might do in the future.

 

 

On November 7, 2022, delegates gathered at the Hamilton Convention Centre for a full day of in-person conference sessions and networking (select sessions live-streamed). Participants engaged with Conference partners and exhibitors at Tradeshow. We were pleased to welcome the Honourable Neil Lumsden, Ontario’s Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport who extended his congratulations to the OMA for 50 years of service to the Ontario museum community with a Certificate of Recognition.

 

Following Conference, delegates attended the OMA Awards of Excellence reception at the Art Gallery of Hamilton to celebrate award recipients, congratulate recent CMS graduates and recognize the legacy of past OMA President, Paul O. Robertson.

 

On November 8, 2022 attendees were invited to explore the local area’s culture and heritage with two engaging Study Tours with the Dundas Museum and Archives and Hamilton Civic Museums.

 

On November 21, 2022, museum professionals and cultural leaders gathered online for a full day of interactive conference sessions on our Conference online portal, Pheedloop, where they were interacted with fellow attendees, speakers, and partners and exhibitors. Following Conference, the OMA hosted an online trivia night in partnership with the Group of Ontario Emerging Museum Professionals.

A processing fee will be applied to all cancellations and transfers. Only written cancellation requests received on or before Sept 26, 2022 will be refunded, minus the 30% processing fee. Registrations received after September 26, 2022 are non-refundable. Delegates who are unable to attend Conference may transfer their registration to another individual from their organization by submitting a transfer request, subject to a $50 processing fee. Transfers may be requested by email or phone. Upon receipt, the original registration rate and any event tickets purchased will transfer to the new attendee. Transfer requests will not be accepted after October 24, 2022. 

By participating in the 2022 OMA Annual Conference, and other pre or post-Conference events, I acknowledge that the OMA may use, record and photograph all chat comments and questions, sessions and presentations, and I grant the OMA the right to use these photographs, comments, questions and videos from the Conference for print or online delivery and promotion. I acknowledge that I am undertaking participation in this OMA event of my own free will and intentional act and that I am fully aware and assume full responsibility for having the appropriate and necessary technology to view the conference in its entirety.

 

By registering for and attending the OMA Annual Conference 2022, I authorize any images, individual comments and questions, or video footage taken of myself, in whole or in part, individually or in conjunction with other images and video footage, to be webcast, archived online and displayed on the OMA website and other OMA communication vehicles, and to be used for promotional purposes in perpetuity. I further agree that such images, photographs, comments, questions, and recordings may be used by the OMA without my prior approval in any form and for any lawful purpose including, without limitation, promoting the OMA. Such use will not entitle me to any credit or compensation. I release the OMA, its officers, and employees from any liability connected with the use of any image, photograph, comment, question, or recording taken during the OMA Conference or related activities. 

 

I acknowledge that I am undertaking participation in the OMA Conference and related activities of my own free will and intentional act and that I am fully aware and assume full responsibility for my own well-being and property in the event of any physical injury or theft that may occur to me as a result of my participation in Conference and post-Conference events.
